An ancient artifact – an ornate warrior's shield – Is found in a ruined Dragon Temple deep beneath Metro City by archaeologist Doctor Lindquist and his son Danny. Imprisoned in this shield is the spirit of the ancient, dreaded Shadow Khan. The Shadowmaster steals the shield and gets Shadow Khan's spirit to do his bidding by promising to free him, unleashing the Shadow Khan's terrifying powers including the dreaded Terror Disks, defeating the Double Dragons and burying them alive in the ancient temple. But with the discovery of the ancient Dragonclaw daggers, the Double Dragons gain new powers and new armor to defeat the Shadowmaster.
