“김여정, 北 2인자 김정은 갑자기 사망하면 후계자 가능성”
Recent analysis from the U.S. suggests that if North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was to suddenly die, at this point, his younger sister, Kim Yo-jong, would likely be his successor.
According to Sue Mi Terry Director of the Asia Program at the Wilson Center at a webinar on leadership in North Korea held by the US think tank, CSIS on Thursday, Kim Yo-jong is second-in-command, and has been exercising real power since 2014.
She is also the vice minister of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Terry added that because Kim Jong-un's oldest child won't reach adulthood until 2030 at the earliest, his firstborn would only become leader if Kim died several years from now.
