Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have played an increasingly important role as a key partner with the United Nations on the ground. They provide indispensable support to the Organization in advancing its mission and objectives and help the international community in navigating along this roadmap. The UN system at large relies on their expertise and active engagement across different sectors including education, health, poverty eradication, human rights, gender equality and indigenous issues. The attention that UN Geneva gives to these engagements supports the UN global efforts to promote, expand and strengthen the role of NGOs at all levels.
