Gold One Mine management says contingency plans have been put in place to provide the necessary medical assistance to more than 400 miners who are stuck underground. The miners failed to report to surface this morning after their shift last night. This is the second incident in about two months - sparked by ongoing tensions between NUM and its rival union AMCU, over organisational rights to represent workers at the mine, east of Johannesburg. Meanwhile, a Gold One investigator who has been probing the October hostage incident at the mine, was shot and killed earlier this week.
