Humza Yousaf has been called on to apologise for the SNP's "16 years of failure" on education.
The Scottish Government was attacked today by opposition parties at First Minister's questions for overseeing a decline in standards across schools, with Tory leader Douglas Ross calling it a "national disgrace".
It follows the publication this week of the Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) tables which found Scotland has slipped in maths, science and reading compared to other countries.
The First Minister told MSPs the results were "not good enough" but insisted the overall standard in classrooms remained high.
