The Altruist Relief Kitchen in Ukraine is an off-grid wood fired industrial field kitchen made out of locally sourced recycled materials that is administered by Ukrainian women. ARK-Ukraine has served 100,000 meals for the women and children and elderly and disabled people fleeing the war at a cost of $0.33 per meal—this is dozens of times more food per dollar than even the largest aid organizations.
For over a decade, these field kitchens have provided critical emergency services in the most difficult and remote situations, where other organizations are unwilling or unable to respond.
Beyond providing basic necessities, ARK is redesigning the framework of humanitarian aid from first principles. ARK is radically efficient in how it operates, it is radically sustainable because it does not require a fossil fuel supply chain and it is the most financially transparent aid organization, publicly documenting every dollar, from photos of donations down to photographs of individual receipts.
The Altruist Relief Kitchen is an exceptional project. We encourage you to take a closer look.
