SUNRISE, Florida: according to police, a mother is facing a child abuse charge after being seen on camera tossing her 6-year-old boy out of her car by his hair and then throwing a booster seat at him during a vicious thrashing in Sunrise on Wednesday.
It occurred on the side of the road between Sunset Strip and 105th Lane shortly after 3 p.m.
According to state prosecutors, Pamela Gaensel, 47, claimed she was disciplining her child with a single spanking; however, the boy sustained multiple bruises to his forehead, arm, and palms, in addition to marks on his back from the spanking.
During the attack, Gaensel allegedly put the child back in the car and then threw him to the ground again, while the boy cried and begged his mother to stop.
Sunrise police stated that surveillance footage from a nearby residence allowed their investigators to confirm the allegations.
According to Gaensel's arrest report, the incident occurred while the child's 7-year-old brother and a younger sister were in the car.
Jail records indicate that she is charged with one count of child abuse without physical injury.
Following her appearance in Broward bond court, a judge set her bond at $5,000.
She was released from prison on Thursday evening after posting bond.
