Sky News host Caroline Di Russo says one major benefit of Queen Margrethe II’s abdication is she is still around for the new King and Queen to draw knowledge from.
Former Queen Margrethe II was the world’s only reigning queen and the longest-serving current monarch in Europe before her abdication.
Crown Prince Frederik became King of Denmark and head of state in the country as well as in Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
The new King and Queen will also be marked spiritually in a celebratory church service at Aarhus Cathedral on Sunday.
“She will retain her title as her majesty, so you can still, I suppose, pick up the phone – yes they’re becoming King and Queen, but they’ve still got that wealth of experience there for the time being that they can still draw on,” Ms Di Russo said.
