The Israeli military has reported an unexpected ambush in northern Gaza by Hamas.
According to Israeli officials, two senior Israeli commanders and seven other soldiers were killed by Hamas in an ambush in the Gaza City suburb of Shejaiya.
Despite the losses, officials said the Gaza offensive will keep moving forward.
“There is a very, very painful price, but it is necessary if we want to live in our homeland and country, and this requires a continuous battle,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
According to the IDF, a total of 444 soldiers have been killed since October 7.
