India has signed a crucial bilateral Haj agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage of 2024. The agreement dictates a total quota of 1,75,025 pilgrims to be sent from India for Haj this year, with 1,40,020 seats being earmarked for pilgrims via the Haj committee and approximately 35,000 pilgrims via Hajj operator groups. Union Minority Affairs Minister, Smriti Rani, played a pivotal role in the process, visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and leading the Indian delegation to some of the holiest sites in the country. The delegation included Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muralidharan, an MP from Kerala, along with officials from the Ministry of Minority Affairs. This move has been met with a mixed response, sparking debates amongst various quarters. #IndiaSaudiArabia #HajAgreement #HajjPilgrimage2024 #SmritiRani #indiafirst #gauravsawant
