Gaza has been under a telecommunications blackout for more than 48 hours, with two employees of Paltel Group killed trying to restore services. Intense gunfire was heard in Gaza’s Khan Younis overnight as clashes between Palestinian fighters and Israeli forces continued. The White House has said “it’s the right time” for Israel to scale back its military offensive in the Gaza Strip, as Israeli leaders vow to intensify attacks. War cabinet observer minister Gadi Eisenkot told Israeli leaders that they are “lying to themselves” and need to wise up before it is too late. Meanwhile, British police arrested six people, allegedly members of the Palestine Action protest group, for a plot to disrupt the London Stock Exchange.
