On The Scene: A large number of buildings were damaged or deformed by a major earthquake in the central Japanese prefecture of Ishikawa and its vicinity on New Year's Day, and rainfalls in the following days have made it even worse. A series of earthquakes of up to 7.6 magnitude struck the region on Monday, and the death toll had climbed to 92 in the prefecture as of 10:00 local time on Friday.
