A shooting at Perry Middle and High School in Iowa has left at least one dead and five others injured.
A sixth-grader was killed while one of the injured is in critical condition.
The other victims are confirmed to be students and the principal of the school, Dan Marburger, according to authorities.
The shooter is confirmed to be a 17-year-old student, Dylan Butler, who allegedly entered the school with a shotgun, a small calibre handgun and a “makeshift explosive device”.
Authorities entered the building following a swift response, and upon entering, they found Butler had turned the gun on himself after deactivating the explosive device he brought with him.
Members of the community have said that Butler was bullied endlessly ever since middle school.
Police have not confirmed a motive, but members of Butler’s family believe he took matters into his own hands after the school failed to intervene when his sister was being picked on.
