Three villages in western Ukrainian said goodbye to a fallen soldier, recently identified using high-tech DNA techniques, in a procession on Wednesday. The funeral ceremony took place in Kryvorivnia, Verkhovyna and Iltsi.
Vasyl Boichuk, from Iltsi, died on March 17, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the southern city of Mykolaiv. His body remained unidentified until DNA testing confirmed his identity.
There are nearly 30,000 missing people in Ukraine, according to the International Commission on Missing Persons.
