President Vladimir Putin invited Indian PM Narendra Modi to visit Russia next year as he met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at the Kremlin on December 27. Putin assured that amid global turbulence, ties with traditional friends in Asia, particularly India, are progressing positively. Jaishankar’s meeting with Putin is considered significant since the Russian President doesn’t usually meet visiting Foreign Ministers.
