Spain’s King Felipe chaired the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Princess of Girona Foundation, of which he has been Honorary President since its creation in 2009.
Following his proclamation as King of Spain, Leonor de Borbón, Princess of Asturias and Girona, Princess Leonor holds the Honorary Presidency of the Foundation.
The main objective of the Foundation is to work for young people in all those critical aspects for their future.
The FPdGi is a private foundation, established by civil society in Girona in 2009, promoted by nearly 90 top-level trustees, the honorary presidency of which is represented by the King, Felipe VI, on behalf of his daughter Princess Leonor.
It aspires to be a benchmark at the national level in supporting young people in their professional and personal development, placing a special interest in the detection of talented young people who serve as contemporary references to other young people (FPdGi Awards), as well as programmes for the improvement of employability ("Talent rescuers") and the educational transformation of young teachers.
In 2020, the FPdGi allocated €2.8 million to programmes for the benefit of young people.
The Princess of Girona Foundation focuses its action on three main areas of action: the detection of talented role models who serve as contemporary role models for other young people (FPdGi Awards), the promotion of programmes to improve employability ("Talent Rescuers") and the promotion of educational transformation through the training of young teachers.
The Foundation has a headquarters in the centre of Girona located on Juli Garreta street. This space offers young people a meeting point where activities designed to respond to the most urgent needs of those who are in the process of improving their professional development are organized.
