And that’s the mood we always have everyday. We always try to keep our morale high. We basically know that we don’t have any other choice."

STORYLINE:
Dozens of people on Wednesday attended a funeral service for an Israeli Defense Forces servicemen killed in the ongoing battle against Hamas in Gaza.
The funeral was held at a cemetery in the southern Israeli city of Ashdod, where Master Sergeant Gil Daniels was born.
Aged 34, Daniels died during a ground operation in central Gaza Strip in the past few days, his comrades from the Givati Commando Brigade told the Associated Press, without providing an exact date or how exactly Daniels was killed.
"We all left our homes, our families, our goals, our jobs to fight the best and most righteous cause there is. We need to protect this country, we only have one country for the Jewish people," said Shaul Moser, who was with Daniels during the operation where his comrade died.
More than 80 soldiers have been killed so far since Israel began its ground invasion in response to the Hamas attack on Oct. 7.
"I hope that this is my last friend and the last soldier (to die), but I know it’s not gonna happen,” said 34-year-old David Solomon, a long time-friend of Daniels.
"The price of this war is really, really high, for everyone," he added.
Two months of Israeli bombardment and ground assaults have killed more than 16,200 people in Gaza — most of them women and children — and wounded more than 42,000, according to figures released by the Health Ministry in Gaza.
Many Palestinians in Gaza are also trapped under rubble.
The ministry does not differentiate between civilian and combatant deaths.
Israel has vowed to fight on, saying it can no longer accept Hamas rule or the group's military presence in Gaza.
Hamas and other militants killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took captive some 240 men, women and children in the Oct 7 attack.
